Isabella + Penelope is a blog sharing our family's life experiences with our pups, Bella and Penny.
My name is Jaclyn Daniels and I'm a crazy dog lady. I think that's how you're supposed to open a confession, right? Ever since I adopted Isabella and Penelope, they've been my world. I've been an obsessed puppy momma on a mission for my girls to live out the best years of their lives.
Do I take it too far sometimes? Maybe. Do my dogs live more extravagant lives than I do? Definitely. But, I wouldn't have it any other way. Fortunately, my sweet husband, Alex, is just as obsessed with these two little black rescue dogs as I am (perhaps I'm a little more extreme).
And that’s why Alex and I have created Isabella + Penelope - to share our story and our adventures in our hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina and beyond!
We’ll be giving you a peek into our lives. We’ll be divulging some of our favorite dog-friendly places to travel and all the hot spots in those locations. We’ll be sharing some pup health and wellness advice based on our experiences. And we’ll be giving some honest reviews on a lot of brands and dog products on the market.
Isabella, or Bella, is a six-year-old lab/chow mix. How do we know? We did the Wisdom Panel DNA test. (Oh yes, we’re those kinds of dog parents.) I adopted her from the Greater Charlotte SPCA when she was 13-weeks-old and I was smitten from the moment I saw her.
Bean, as we affectionately call her, captures the eye of everyone who sees her.
She’s beautiful, she has such a calm disposition, she’s insanely athletic (she qualified to be a “pro” DockDog after her first-ever dive), she’s slightly judgemental, and she’s completely charming. Bella has a heart of gold and it’s impossible to not fall in love with her.
Penelope is a cartoon in both personality and appearance. She’s sweet but spicy, she snores all day long regardless of if she’s sleeping, she runs fast as lightning despite her stumpy legs, she burrows in and under everything, she’s deceptively heavy for her size (solid muscle, mind you), and she has cat-like tendencies.
Penny brings so much joy and life to everything. It’s impossible to not smile around her. Poo, as we affectionately call her, is a 3-year-old beagle/pekingese/lab mix (Of course we DNA tested her too) and will legitimately smother you in kisses until you accept her love. We adopted her from Catering to Cats and Dogs when she was 13-weeks-old.
